When it comes to teen comedy, the 90s was where it was at! Remember flicks like Clueless, She’s All That and American Pie? All made and featured in the 1990s! As was another famous movie: 10 Things I Hate About You. The film is now celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a special DVD release.
10 Things I Hate About You Movie Rating:
Shakespeare Story
10 Things I Hate About You may now by a hit TV show, but when it first appeared on the BIG screen it was set at Padua High in Seattle, where Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) was trying to gain the affections of Katarina "Kat" Stratford (Julia Stiles). Both students study Shakespeare’s sonnets in their English lit class – and there are lots more similarities between Shakespeare and the movie than that.
Director Dude
10 Things I Hate About You was directed by Gil Junger, who also worked on cool shows like Blossom and 8 Simple Rules ... for Dating My Teenage Daughter. The 10th anniversary DVD of his movie includes a few extra features that give you insight into how Junger tried to infuse more comedy into the film through deleted scenes.
Cult Classic
The real reason 10 Things I Hate About You is remembered 10 years after its release is the cast – as well as those awful 90s fashions (especially a particularly hideous pink prom dress) and a soundtrack that includes Barenaked Ladies (One Week) and No Doubt!
