With 2009 over and done, we wanted to take a look back at some of the best shows television had to offer over the year ...
No. 10: Gossip Girl
Based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar, this series about spoiled NYC teens launched in 2007 and has been a fan fave ever since. While ratings slipped in 2009, it's still a hot show with a hot cast that include Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley. Hopefully the storylines will pick up and get GG back on track in 2010.
No. 9: Make It Or Break It
Chelsea Hobbs, Josie Loren, Ayla Kell and Cassie Scerbo are gymnasts in Boulder, Colorado, training for their shot at the Olympic Games. The hit show gives athletic teen girls a chance to see and strive for something more than boys and clothes.
No. 8: True Jackson, VP
Keke Palmer is terrif as vice-prez of a teen clothing line as she navigates the world of business and all the normal drama that comes from being a teenager.
No. 7: 10 Things I Hate About You
Based on the 1999 film starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, (which was originally a modern-day retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming Of The Shrew), this is a well-written show about high-school politics and dating.
No. 6: Sonny With A Chance
Teen fave Demi Lovato got her own series this year playing Sonny Monroe who stars on the show-within-a-show called So Random!.
No. 5: The Secret Life Of The American Teenager
Shailene Woodley stars as 16-year-old Amy Jurgens, who is struggling with school, pregnancy and teen parenthood.
No. 4: Glee
The show about a group of misfit teens trying to shed their Loser status and get their Glee Club to nationals with pregnancies, rivals, affairs of the heart and budget obstacles thrown in for good measure.
No. 3: The Vampire Diaries
Based on the LJ Smith books written long before Twilight, this sharp, witty show is updated and fun without being stuck in melodramatic world of Twilight land. Just too juicy not to watch!
No. 2: iCarly
Miranda Cosgrove plays Carly, who creates her web show iCarly with the help of her two friends Freddie and Sam.
No. 1: Wizards Of Waverly Place
Three gifted kids have to hide their abilities from outsiders, figure out spells and move through adolescence while knowing that only one child can keep their magical abilities into adulthood. Talk about sibling rivalry!
