Five guys meet; one hot band is formed. While most kids their age are worrying about high school,Geoff and Jamey Ice, brothers, along with Josh Jenkins, Joshua Wilkerson and Denton Hunker, are writing and performing their own music as Green River Ordinance. Here's their bio.
Growing Up
Guitarist Joshua's dad played in bands, touring with The Beach Boys and The Guess Who. Jamey (guitar) and Geoff (bass) had music-loving parents who encouraged them to play the blues and classic rock at an early age. Singer/guitarist Josh's dad was a country singer and songwriter who had his son decked out in old-fashioned western clothes and singing on stage as a child.
Growing Band
Jamey and Geoff formed the original group, with different musicians coming and going. When Josh joined the band they discovered the bond they had in writing songs. When Joshua and Denton joined the band the songwriting was taken to a whole new level. There was a certain magic that happened when all five of them got into a room together to write.
In between shows the guys would sit around and work on songs, each one bringing his own ideas to the mix and, sometimes, a whole piece. The five boys always encouraged and pushed each other. At the end of the process after much work and challenging each other, the song would be complete.
Growing Popularity
Eventually, Green River Ordinance recorded their first album in the basement of their church, a CD that sold out in just a few months. Still underage, they played in packed bars. In fact, they were so popular locally that they opened for Bon Jovi in Dallas in 2006 and soon they were touring with bands like Collective Soul, Hanson and Simple Plan, to name just a few.
In 2007 they signed a deal with EMI/Virgin Records, joining amazing talents from the past and the present, like Pink Floyd, Beastie Boys and Coldplay. They even LOOK like rock stars … although all five guys are extremely as enthusiastic and real as the day they recorded that first CD in their church basement.
