Get your game on with EAs latest hockey extravaganza. NHL 2001 drops the puck on the ice with the all-new Momentum Meter and more stick-wielding goons than you can shake your keyboard at.

EA knows sports and they have another winner on it's roster. NHL 2001 steps it up again with bigger graphics, better AI, and more fun than ever.

Packed with 50 teams of fully detailed, life-like hockey stars and the ability to whip up your own team means you can create the lineup of your dreams. Life-like isn't an exaggeration either, these guys are ready to leap off the screen and track ice all over your living room.

The sound is good, the music [kwlink]rocks, the crowd is crazy but the announcers aren't all there. I dunno if they've got a case of brain freeze but they stop coming up with new things to say pretty quickly. After about an hour you'll know what they're gonna say before they say it. A little more variety would've been nice.[/kwlink]

A cool new touch is a 'Momentum Meter'. As you get your act in gear and start getting offensive all over the other guys it goes up. Once it hits the top your team hits its stride and gets boosted up. It's a wicked little perk and a solid reason to get aggressive.

How hard is the game?

The controls take about 30 minutes to learn and the game is harder than the last but it's still fairly easy.
