After playing hockey in college Dan Boyle was surprisingly never drafted – scouts thought he was too small to be an NHL player. Finally, in 1998, he signed as a free agent with the Florida Panthers and his pro career began.
And what a career it’s been. In 2002, Dan was traded to Tampa Bay. With that team his dreams came true as he lifted the coveted Stanley Cup over his head in 2004. Unfortunately, in 2007 an wrist injury limited him to just 37 games.
Dan’s final move to the San Jose Sharks has proved to be a good one. He was the top-scoring defenseman in the team for the 2008-09 season. So much for being “too small.”
Hockey Highlights
While in Tampa Bay Dan hosted a weekly hockey-related radio show called Boyle’s Blue Line.
