Check out the third in our series of exclusive interviews with makers of Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, set to be released on October 6, 2009.
This week we asked assistant producer Cris “Soup” Lee about the Jedi VS Clones dynamic in the game.
Jedi VS Clones
KW:What’s the theme of the game?
CL:It's a co-op action adventure game.
KW: What kind of players will like this game?
CL: Fans and gamers of all ages who love the Clone Wars TV series, and enjoy drop in/drop out co-op with friends or family. The game has something for everyone since you can play as both the Jedi or the Clones who have two distinctively different play styles.
KW: What characters do players get to be?
CL: Players can choose any of their favorite Jedi, or Clone Trooper to play as from the TV series.
KW: How many Jedi characters are there to choose from?
CL: There are 8 playable Jedi to choose from in Republic Heroes: Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Mace Windu.
KW: What kind of mission are the Jedi on?
CL: The story begins right where season one left off with Anakin and Ahsoka on the recently liberated planet of Ryloth mopping up the remaining droid army presence when they stumble across a sinister plot that calls for all our Republic Heroes to step in.
KW: What abilities do the Jedi have?
CL: The Jedi like in the TV show are very acrobatic they have their lightsaber, as well as the force on their side. We're also introducing a new Jedi move in the game called the "Droid-Jak", at any time you can jump on top of and take control of any droid in the game, whether its to solve a puzzle or use the droid as a weapon is up to you!
KW: How many Clone characters are there to choose from?
CL: There are 9 playable Clones to choose from in Republic Heroes including 4 brand new clone characters be introduced for the first time in the game. There are the show favorites: Captain Rex, Commander Cody, Commander Gree, Commander Ponds, and the new clones are: Sergeant Kano, Boomer, Switch, and Rookie. Oh and don't forget you can also play as the bounty hunter Cad Bane!
KW: What kind of mission are the Clones on?
CL: The clones follow the same story as our Jedi heroes, like in the show the clones and Jedi work together and so players will also be able to experience that in game by helping each other out as they uncover the story. Like I mentioned before the story begins at the end of season one, it also leads up to and bridges the gap into season two which starts this fall.
KW: What abilities do the Clones have?
CL: Clones are tactical and technical. They have the ability to hack into consoles, use Jet-packs and have an arsenal of weaponry from Thermal Detonators to Rocket Launchers.
