It’s Top 10 week on So You Think You Can Dance. The original couples have split, and each remaining dancer has paired up with a new partner.
Performances
Evan and Kayla teamed up for a Viennese Waltz. Their extreme height difference might have been the reason the judges had a few negative comments. But overall, they thought their lines were perfect, their lifts were effortless, and they danced with elegance.
Jeanette and Ade paired up, creating another extreme height difference. At least with this couple, the guy is taller than the girl. They performed a hip-hop routine in which Ade was a funk doctor trying to hypnotize Jeanette into being more funky. The judges loved it, calling it fun and, of course, funky!
Jason and Jeanine both lost their partners last week. But now they’ve teamed up and the luck of the draw was definitely on their side. They landed a very unique, original contemporary piece choreographed Season 2’s Travis Wall. The judges gave Travis and the dancers a standing ovation.
Randi and Kupono don’t look like your typical dancing partnership. And landing the Paso Doble didn’t help. The judges felt that their dancing didn’t live up to the choreography. There was little passion and little chemistry, and Kupono just wasn’t as strong as he should have been.
Melissa and Brandon performed an unusual Broadway routine for their first dance as a couple. It was a routine from the rock musical Hair. Melissa and Brandon acted like flower children from the 60’s. The judges thought the piece was powerful, seamless and, best of all, groovy.
Elimination
Randi and Melissa landed in the bottom 2 girls, and Kupono and Ade landed in the bottom 2 guys. America voted, and Randi and Kupono were the first Top 10 couple to be eliminated.
