Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! For this week, we preview Harvest Moon: Frantic Farming, Fuel, and Up!
Up and Away
Pixar, who apparently don't have it in them to make a bad movie, have hit gold again with Up, which is out in theatres in a little more than a week. There hasn't been a bad review yet, and if for some reason you want to spoil the movie's storyline ahead of time, you can buy the game three days early on the 26th! The game combines basic platformer gameplay with coop between two players, a bit like the LEGO Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones games. I would personally suggest that you wait until after you get to see the movie to give the game a try, but if you've got a friend to play with, this one will be hard to stay away from, especially because it's on every current console I can think of right now.
Fueled and Ready
Fuel is an offroad (and momentarily on-road) racing game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 with crazy online action and actual, free-roaming offroad environments. You can ride motorcycles, dirtbikes, trucks, and ATVs, each with their own interesting differences in gameplay. If you get tired of free-roaming, there are tons of game modes, from basic races, to "search and destroy" in which you have to crash your friend's car as soon as you can, and "follow the chopper", which does indeed have you try to follow a helicopter as close as you can. If you're a bigger fan of Burnout and Pure than Gran Turismo and Forza, this is the racing game for you.
Frantic Farming Fun
Harvest Moon: Frantic Farming for the DS is a rare puzzle-action Harvest Moon game, with an astonishing 12 playable characters, each with their own storyline. If you've played Harvest Moon before, this isn't quite the same game. This game is more about puzzle gameplay, and is much better for playing with friends. With twelve stories to go through, a puzzles-only mode, and good multiplayer, this may be the best of several DS games coming out this week.
