We saw a lot of flicks in 2001 - some good, some bad and some downright dumb (Glitter - UGH!) Here are the flicks that topped the box office - the ones we all forked over the bucks to see. And man, there was a LOT of bucks forked...
#1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - $286,110,000.
#2 Shrek - $267,652,016.
#3 Monsters Inc. - $236,257,000.
#4 Rush Hour 2 - $226,138,454.
#5 The Mummy Returns - $202,007,640.
#6 Pearl Harbor - $198,539,855.
#7 Jurassic Park 3 - $181,166,115.
#8 Planet of the Apes (2001) - $179,621,139.
#9 Hannibal - $165,091,986.
#10 Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - $154,517,000
Yeah, that's a lot of green. Keep in mind the cash totals are the gross amount the flick has racked up over the year. I don't mean gross as in yuck, sick, icky - I mean gross as in the lump sum of cash, before they take out the amount it cost to make the movie. Even after the production costs are taken out - I bet a lot of your allowance money is going into some studio big wig's pocket.
Did you love a flick this year that bombed at the box office? which flick made you flip this year.
