E3 2008 Coverage

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, affectionately known as E3 is THE annual industry trade show (some call it a circus) that showcases all of the upcoming gaming goodies of the year (and is usually where exciting announcements are made). With E3 wrapping up today, we thought we'd put together a lil' teaser of some of the action being salivated over by the industry pros and journalists who have exclusive access to this event in LA. Check it!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

We love Harry Potter games and this one looks fantastic BUT, unfortunately, this game is only for the Wii (Wii games are commonly much weaker versions than those made for the next-gen platforms like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.) Wii fans, however, we're sure, will enjoy wearing their favorite wizard hat and waving the Wii-mote around like a magic wand while screaming "Petrificus Totalus!" at the top of their lungs.

Skate It

The Skate franchise Ollie's onto the Wii in a new version of the same game but with several different interactive control options, the most exciting being the Wii Fit balance board, which acts like a skateboard interface to turn and flick tricks from. Watch for this to Shuv-it onto shelves later this year.

Flock

UFO lands at a farm and you must gather animals into your ship by solving various farm related puzzles like a space age Noah's Ark story. This very creative idea may prove to be quite entertaining - watch for it!

Rock Band 2

Expect the best song list ever! End of story. (We're too excited to speak any more about this one!)

Sony may shift gears to target MMO fans (Massive Multiplayer Online games).

PS3 network to offer live news, weather, and video communications.

PSP may become a system for the living room; what this means who knows, maybe it will be used to control the curtains. Will also soon offer entertainment packs for younger fans, including 1HR downloads for movies.

Sony tries hard to convince everyone the PS3 network will one day rival Xbox Live's online system. (LOL)

Big Wigs talk about blending gaming and social networking (could be interesting!)

Nintendo demos Wii Music; a multiplayer musical game that features over 50 instruments including piano, violin, electric guitar, and even Taiko drums.

New Wii Sports title will include games like Frisbee (with a fetching dog!!), jet skiing, and sword fighting.

Nintendo announced new functionality for DS including travel plans, sports scores, or instant cooking recipes.

Talk of Pokemon Rangers: Shadows of Almia available sometime in November.

Nintendo introduces new and more sensitive MotionPlus attachment for the Wii-mote controller.

Final Fantasy XIII coming to Xbox 360

Microsoft announces Netflix partnership which means more movies and TV on Xbox Live.

Xbox Live getting a dashboard update that includes Wii-like avatars and group play: mixed reactions - some hate it some don't.

2008 could end with a bang brothers and sisters, as over 200+ game titles with potential release dates before January 1, 2009 for the Xbox 360 alone, this year could be the single most fun-filled year for gamers yet.
