Michael Jackson gets a little help from his friends on a benefit song, pop princess Britney picks a name for her upcoming album and Mariah Carey disses another female popstar. Can you guess who?
Many artists are getting involved in relief efforts after last week's terrorist attacks. Michael Jackson is currently working on a benefit song for the survivors and families of victims. Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child and Nick Carter will join Michael on the benefit single.
The song will be titled, What More Can I Give, and will be released as soon as possible in hopes of raising $50 million dollars. "I believe in my heart that the music community will come together as one and rally to the aid of the thousands of innocent victims," Michael said. "There is a tremendous need for relief dollars right now and, through this effort, each one of us can play an immediate role in helping comfort so many people."
In other news, Britney has picked a name for her new album, set for a November 6, 2001 release. The album will be titled, Britney. (Gee, a lot of creativity went into that title.) Radios are cranking out the first single, I'm a Slave 4 U, and Britney introduced the song in a performance at the recent 2001 MTV Music Video Awards.
Mariah Carey isn't a J.Lo fan. Apparently Mariah has launched an attack against J. Lo claiming Jennifer Lopez ripped off her hairstyle and doesn't sing her own songs. Mariah told reporter Vanessa Grigoriadis that a melody she recorded a year ago for Loverboy is used in Jennifer's hit song I'm Real.
When told J.Lo gets a full eight hours sleep a night, Mariah (who says she only sleeps about three) said. "If I had the luxury of not actually having to sing my own songs I'd do that too." Meow!
