Playing Microsofts Age of Empires lets you run a village, farm a field, start a war or even build one of the wonders of the world. Do it all for free with our latest Download of the Week.
Microsoft's Age of Empires plants you in the shoes of the mighty leader of an entire civilization. You get to control them from their beginnings as a small village, through the ages of stone, tool, bronze and iron. Hunt, fish, wage war and build all kinds of cool buildings to make a huge city for your people.
Awesome Action in Age of Empires
All the action looks really smooth. There are animals running around, waves on the sea, trees and forests everywhere and lots of cool little villagers. The details are great, right down to the villagers changing outfits to chop wood or farm, and the animals running away from your hunters
Awful Action in Age of Empires
Unfortunately the graphics are the best part of the game. The sound effects are decent. They're nothing special but they work. The problem is that all of your villagers are dumb as stumps. You have to tell them how to do everything or they'll just stand there, even if something freaky is happening right next to them. It's a pain in the butt, especially when you start getting lots of villagers.
King for a Day in Age of Empires!
Once you've mastered the controls you'll get into the swing of things. It's all about gathering resources to build stuff. Food makes villagers, wood and stone make buildings and a little bit of gold never hurt anyone. Build your town into a city, train your warriors and explore the world.

I have been playing Age of Empires now for about 5 years. I am expierenced some may say but they're wrong. On the game you have a chance to master over 200 levels so they're all different. I also play the game over the internet with people all over the world using the msn gaming zone. I think Age of Empires one is much better than the Age of Kings. I have never played Age of Mythology yet, that's a game I would like to play.
