American Idol Season 3: Sindy's Picks

My
TV obsession is
American Idol. Besides having a totally hot host (
Ryan Seacrest - yum!), there's drama, trauma, and Simon Cowell! (Oh yeah, and singing -
lots of singing). Now that
Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson (dawg!) have widdled down the
American Idol Season 3 contestants to the
final 32, I am just itching to give you my predictions who will make it - far. One of whom may just be the next
American Idol!
American Idol Finalist Jon-Peter Lewis
Age: 23
What Rocks:This dude is great! His funny and goofy personality reminds me a lot of
Seth Cohen (he can sell me a pen any day).
His pipes are pretty solid, so I see Jon in the final 12 - if not the
final 5!
What Doesn't: Obviously
Simon Cowell (and sometimes the other judges) don't get Jon-Peter Lewis' style and character. He's way-cool, but because he's never even been to
a concert, and he says his American Idol is
Forrest Gump, the judges (and some voting peeps) may not take him seriously enough to crown him Idol.
American Idol Finalist Fantasia Barrino
Age:19
What Rocks: Fantasia's
style and voice are out of this world! She's also got some
soul and style in the personality department!
What Doesn't: In honesty, so far - there is nothing that doesn't rock about Fantasia. However, there was nothing that didn't rock about
Tamyra Gray and the voting public still dumped her before the
final two. Although it would appear Fantasia deserves to make it way-far, who knows what will happen.
American Idol Finalist Diana Degarmo
Age: 16
What Rocks: Diana's voice rocks. Her style is very
all-american good girl-ish, which is what
American Idol is all about. And, making her even more
perfect for the title of Idol, Diana Degarmo considers both Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard as her own
personal idols. Ahh, sweet.
What Doesn't: Diana Degarmo is a mere
16 years old. America might fear that throwing a 16 year-old into the big bad world of professional music might have her pulling stunts like
Britney Spears by the time she's 20. I have a feeling Diana will make it to the top 10, but not much further.
American Idol Finalist Marque Lynche
Age: 22
What Rocks: He's the whole package. Marque went to
performing arts school and it was announced in his very first audition that he is a dancer - which would be an asset to
this competition. Also, although he's kinda shy, his voice isn't. He can definitely
wow 'em. Plus, hello - he's H-O-T-T!
What Doesn't: Marque Lynche's
well-rounded talent (singing, acting, dancing of all genres), might actually hurt him in the long run. Maybe America will see him as someone who can't focus enough on singing to be the next
American Idol - I hope not. Even if he doesn't win, Marque will make it into the final 5.
American Idol Finalist Lisa Lueschner
Age: 21
What Rocks: Her determination. Lisa Lueschner was
rejected last year when she
auditioned and Simon Cowell told her to "
lose weight" - something Paula Abdul (and I) thought was one of Simon's stupidest comments, ever. Lisa audition again this year - and she made it, weighing the same amount she did before.
What Doesn't: Although Lisa Lueschner's determination is fierce, her voice isn't. As the competition
heats up, she may be eclipsed by bigger talent - but I think she's top 12 material.
American Idol Finalist Marisa Joy
Age: 19
What Rocks: Marisa's not only got a great voice, it's got a lot of
range and she knows how to control it, and work it. Her
punkish style is definitely refreshing, too.
What Doesn't: Marisa Joy describes her voice style as
Bonnie Raitt-ish. If that's really true, she may be a little too
country for this competition. Then again, Simon kept calling
Clay Aiken "too Broadway" and well... you know how that
ended up. Marisa Joy should make the top 12, and may make the top three!
