If youre all about the ice hockey drama, love last minute shots on goal, hard-hits and other hockey tidbits - you should check out Disneys new ice hockey flick, Miracle.

It's been a long time since the Mighty Ducks hit the ice and made hockey history, leaving hockey fans a little anxious for some more movie magic. So Disney has stepped up to the plate to bring you the true story of the US Olympic hockey team winning the gold in 1980. Check out whether Miracle will score a place on your top 10 list or get shut out!

Miracle in the Making

For two decades the U.S.S.R (now known as Russia) dominated the world of hockey, taking home the gold in 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976. Tired of being humiliated year after year, the Olympic committee recruits hockey coach Herb Brooks (played by Kurt Russell) to put together, and coach, the US Men's Olympic hockey team. Brooks steps on a lot of toes during his pursuit of gold, pushing the team harder than a run-in with Red Forman on a bad day, but his efforts end up paying off.

Magical Miracle Moments

Miracle is packed full of intense hockey footage - last minute goals, hard hits and saves like you've never seen before. If you're a hockey fan, you're going to enjoy this flick. And, since you probably weren't around for the original US-Soviet match-up, it'll all be new to you. You're also going to be filled in on what was going down in the world at that time and why this game meant so much to Herb Brooks. So, if you're a history buff, you'll wanna check Miracle out too.

Miracle Meltdown

While Miracle is a pretty solid film, there are a few things that may get on your nerves. At times the movie gets a little too dramatic with its slow-mo scenes and the excessive soul-searching that all the Miracle characters seem to go through. While it was a pretty cool feat for the US team to beat the Soviets, it was just a hockey game - maybe not worthy of the level of hype Miracle builds up.

Miracle DVD Features

Ok, so the features on the Miracle DVD are pretty cool. You get to see audition tapes from a bunch of the main characters, see what the real 1980 US Olympic team players think of the movie and there are a ton of funny outtakes too. Not only that, but during pre-production of Miracle, the director, Gavin O'Connor, and Kurt Russell were able to sit down with the real-life Herb Brooks. They chatted about the process that he and the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team went through in order to win the [kwlink]gold medal[/kwlink]. There's some pretty amazing stuff on this DVD so it's definitely a movie to add to your collection.

Disney's Miracle - The Bottom Line

Miracle is worth checkin' out, especially if you dig hockey flicks. There's a lot of action and a lot of drama, so you can even drag the GF to see this one. If you're lactose-intolerant, though, you may want to avoid Miracle due to the over-abundance of cheese you're going to be served.
