A Dare to Dream attitude is how Skylar Stecker approaches every day. Born on April 24th, 2002 in Florida, and having moved out west to California to focus on Singing & Songwriting Skylar isn't going to let being 12 hold her back from her dream of being a permanent fixture in modern pop culture. In fact being 12 only enhances her drive to conquer her desires to write, to record and to preform original material for audiences around the world.
With a big voice and an even bigger dream - Skylar has made the decision to give it her all.
Over the last year Skylar has preformed in front of stadium sized crowds, she has performed sold out theater shows with MattyBRaps in New York, Los Angels, Atlanta & Dallas and has even has the opportunity to appeared on network television.
You many have even caught Skylar guest staring on ABC's Super Fun Night along side Rebel Wilson!
Skylar is all about connecting with her fans, and loves to keeps up her YouTube channel. To date Skylar has over One hundred and twenty thousand subscribers with over 60 million channel views. She values the support so much. We think Skylar is well on her way!
Exclusive: Interview with Skylar Stecker.
Kidzworld: What is the first song you remember hearing? Do you remember where you were?
- Skylar: The first song I remember loving was "Single Ladies" by Beyonce on the radio. I was in the car with my Mom.
Kidzworld: Kidzworld Members want to know, what is is your favorite junk food go-to while on the road?
- Skylar: Definitely BBQ Corn Nuts. They are my guilty pleasure.
Kidzworld: Do you ever get nervous during a performance? How do you handle the nerves?
- Skylar: Not really since I've been performing for a long time now! It's more excitement than nervousness.
Kidzworld: How long and how often to you practice??
- Skylar: Everyday. I usually do a 15 minute warm up, then run through some of the songs that I am working on.
Kidzworld: What was the first concert that you ever attended?
- Skylar: A Beyoncé concert......... BEST CONCERT EVER!
KW: How would you describe your most perfect day?
- Skylar: Waking up at 10:00, eating an amazing vegan breakfast in bed, going shopping at Bloomingdale's, then coming home and changing in to my favorite pair of fuzzy pajamas, eating left over garlic noodles, turning on a movie then half way through the movie, making some hot cocoa with marshmallows on it and crashing on the couch :)
Kidzworld: Who are some of your favorite artists, composers, bands or other musicians past or present? Would you say any of them influenced your music?
- Skylar: My favorite artists are Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Pink, Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, and Christine Agulara. All of these artist have influenced my music in some way, shape or form.
Kidzworld: What moves you?
- Skylar: What moves me is a song that has a meaning, a lesson or speaks the truth. I want my music to have a purpose. Even if the purpose is to just have fun. It still makes someone out there feel good. I don't want to write music that is hurtful or that brings on negativity. I want to stay focused and positive and encourage others to do the same.
Kidzworld: If you could jump into a time machine and give your younger self a piece of advice; what would you say?
- Skylar: I would tell myself to really take in each and every moment because things move really fast and it's hard sometimes to stop and smell the roses. :)
Kidzworld: What is the thing you absolutely love about yourself?
- Skylar: That I am happy being me! I'm Not trying to be like anything else. I want to stand out for being my own person.
Kidzworld: What causes are you involved with? What message would you like to the world to know little bit more about?
- Skylar: I am very passionate about animal rights. I am a vegetarian and have been for many years now. I am very involved in a wonderful charity called Wheelchairs 4 Kids that helps kids get wheelchairs that fit them correctly and that feel comfortable.
Kidzworld: What song that you have made are you most proud of and why?
- Skylar: I am very proud of a song called "Fly" that is on my EP coming out January 27th. I wrote it on the piano and I think it will really show people who I am as a person and an artist. I think we are have the ability to do great things and fly!
Kidzworld: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Skylar: I am hopeful that I will be on tour by then, be on mainstream radio, and hopefully be at the Grammy's! :)
